Why Being Mindful?
We are highly experienced mindfulness teachers who have trained over a thousand Londoners on the gold-standard 8-week mindfulness course (MBSR/MBCT). The Being Mindful teachers Tessa Watt and Debbie Johnson each have over 25 years of personal mindfulness practice and have been teaching full-time since 2009. We provide a supportive environment in which you can learn lifelong skills to reduce stress and anxiety and enjoy your life to the full.
In addition to MBSR/MBCT, we now offer courses in Mindful Parenting, Mindfulness One to One Coaching and Supervision for mindfulness teachers. See About the Course for more information.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
(MBSR/ MBCT) is a program for reducing stress and anxiety which has been widely approved by the international medical community. It teaches greater awareness of our thoughts, feelings and sensations through simple techniques like meditation and gentle movement.
In the course you will learn:
- to stay in touch with the present moment and be less caught up in negative thought patterns
- to develop more helpful responses to stress
- to use simple meditation techniques which can transform daily life including sitting meditation exercises (eg mindfulness of breathing), body scan and yoga
We have years of experience of meditation practice and a commitment to making the benefits of mindfulness more widely known and experienced.

Training in compassion and learning to open and soften to the difficulties of parenting via a group is extraordinarily helpful, we are often holding so much for the family and it can be a relief to be able to share and investigate our challenges in a supportive environment, and in this way alleviate and transform our parental suffering.

We currently run classes online in London: our course locations when in person, are located in Balham, Clapham and Borough are easily accessible from central London including the West End, the City, London Bridge and Waterloo. The Balham venue is 5 minutes from Balham underground / rail. These locations are especially convenient from Battersea, Brixton, Clapham Junction, Streatham, Tooting and Wandsworth.
